It is one thing to state, as we do in The Roche Group Policy on Safety, Health and Environmental Protection, that everyone in the organization must work under optimal conditions of health and safety, and that we maintain high ethical and social standards when it comes to protecting the environment. But it is another to transform this worthy intention into reality. In addition, the standards we set for ourselves often go far beyond legal and regulatory requirements. For over 20 years, the Nutley site has been involved in highly successful programs to reduce energy consumption and eliminate air and water pollution. Efforts in recent years have translated into preventing some 59,000 metric tons of greenhouse gases per year from being released into the atmosphere.
