Over twenty four years ago, Roche gave Ron
Peters a chance to make a major career transition. Ron took that chance and today
he's a successful Division Sales Manager on the Roche Field Sales team.
In 1981, after teaching high school history and social studies for eight years,
Ron Peters applied for a sales position with Roche. Because of his former
training and excellent communication skills - two key requirements for the
sales position - the company took him on board. Through the years, Ron's
career has advanced and now he leads a team of nine sales professionals in
Wilmington, DE, Philadelphia, PA, and southern New Jersey. "The culture here
promotes flexibility and creativity, and the need to understand diversity in
terms of culture and ideas. This is especially important as we reach out to
many diverse communities," he says.
In further describing Roche's culture, Ron explains that it's a caring,
family environment. "Our old sales motto was, "products that matter from
people who care," he says. "This has been ingrained in me and I still use
it when talking to customers. Like the rest of my Roche colleagues, I know
we're making a real difference in our communities and in patients" lives.
Reflecting on his career at Roche, Ron adds, "I'm very satisfied with my career
achievements, which include the training and development of my team.
My goal is to stay with Roche until I retire." As to career advice, Ron Peters
recommends a commitment to excellence in any position: "You want to deepen,
refine and perfect your skill set, no matter what your skills are.
And always strive to excel at what you do."
