Roche and the Community
Committed to Making a Difference

Our Philosophy and Approach

At Roche, our aim as a leading healthcare company is to develop and market innovative, high quality solutions for unmet medical needs. Our products and services help prevent, diagnose and treat diseases, enhancing people's health and quality of life. We strive to do this in a responsible and ethical manner, with a commitment to being a valued supplier, partner, neighbor and employer.

Our Philosophy and Approach

Recognizing Roche's role and the impact it can have in the community, we conduct our business while respecting the needs of the individual, society and the environment, a concept often referred to as sustainability. Although the term is relatively new, the principle it expresses has long been a part of our culture and our activities. Since Roche's founding more than 100 years ago, sustainability has guided our activities by uniting entrepreneurial responsibility with innovation in healthcare.

As one of the first companies in the United States to initiate a Corporate Giving Program, we have long believed that business can help make a difference in our society. We also believe social responsibility is a key strategic component of exemplary business practice. These beliefs have grown into our highly valued Social Vision, which integrates corporate citizenship with the company’s business goals.

The Roche Social Vision

Through the integration of corporate citizenship as a strategic component of exemplary business practice, Roche will be positioned among its constituencies as a valued supplier, partner, neighbor and employer.

This Social Vision guides our company’s efforts to anticipate societal and community issues relevant to the company, identify areas of mutual interest, and strengthen targeted relationships and community programs.

What We Do
What We Do

Roche integrates corporate citizenship with the company's business goals and objectives through a multifaceted process of community involvement, relationship building, charitable contributions, external collaborations and partnerships. Through the administration of a corporate giving program and The Roche Foundation, Roche seeks to enhance the quality of life for our employees and residents of the communities where we have a significant presence or interest. In addition, Roche seeks to enhance the effectiveness of state and national third-party professional, patient and other health-related organizations. Therefore, much of Roche's support is focused in five areas: Targeted Partnerships, Health Promotion and Education Programs, Employee Programs, The United Way and Non-Cash Contributions.

The Roche Foundation

The Roche Foundation (formerly known as the Hoffmann-La Roche Foundation) was created in 1947 as an independent charitable entity, solely funded by the company. Today, it continues to complement the corporate contributions program and helps support selected community organizations and initiatives. The Roche Foundation focuses its support on health promotion and education, especially science and math education.

The initiatives described on this web site are intended to illustrate the kind of assistance and support Roche provides in the U.S. and do not represent a complete list of company-supported organizations and programs.
